Looking to Fund a Project?

Playful Learning Landscapes does not fund projects. The case studies below highlight how others have successfully brought their projects together. Those interested in funding a project are encouraged to get in touch through the contact form.

Live and Learn

Funding Source: Philanthropy

Set in North Philadelphia, Playful Learning Landscapes partnered with Watchdog and MGD to begin the Live and Learn initiative. Two pilot sites were funded with generous support from the William Penn Foundation.

Many of the projects Playful Learning Landscapes has collaborated on were funded by foundations. It is worth exploring whether a local charity may be interested in supporting the impact of Playful Learning environments.

Playful Learning environments can be integrated into government initiatives that focus on child and family health, community health, and the quality of the built environment. These organizations may operate at the national level, local level, or both.

Mosaic of Hope

Funding Source: Governmental

The 19-foot mosaic built at the Hope Center for Families, is the joint work of Omega CDC, Omega Baptist Church, and the Mosaic Institute of Dayton, with financial support from Learn to Earn initiative to create opportunities to “Play on Purpose”!

BFF Omaha

Funding Source: DIY

BFF Omaha is an arts nonprofit located in the historic Benson neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska. The organization began as a group of community members organizing monthly art walks and has since evolved into an organization that supports the arts on a daily basis. BFF Omaha constructed a chalkboard Playwall to collect community responses during its monthly First Friday events. That input was used to guide the design process, and work by local artists was incorporated into the final Playful Learning Landscape installation.

Often, communities, groups, or individuals are able to gather their own resources to install a Playful Learning environment. To support DIY projects, Playful Learning Landscapes has developed a set of tools, guidance, and references.
