Playful Learning Landscapes Action Network (PLLAN) works hand-in-hand with community groups, local organizations, architects, designers, developers or anyone else leading a project that aims to create a playful learning environment. Our services are aligned to a project framework in which PLLAN is able to engage at all, or at specific stages.

For project specific services, here are some of the ways we can collaborate:

PLLAN works with the Project Team to identify community champions, involve community members, launch and promote the project, and plan for stewardship.

PLLAN conducts workshops on playful learning for interested stakeholders,including members of the project team, architects and designers, and community members.

PLLAN works with the Project Team to develop a strategy for community engagement, designed to identify the community’s goals, values, and culture for incorporation into the design. PLLAN also has specific tools for community engagement, such as a board game, bags of stuff protocols, or a Play Wall.

PLLAN assists the project team in collating and interpreting the data from community engagement.

PLLAN provides technical assistance to designers to ensure that designs reflect the community data and are aligned with the principles of playful learning. This is an iterative process that involves multiple rounds of design with feedback from the Project Team.

PLLAN works with the Project Team to gather feedback on the designs from the community through play testing, and communicates that to the design team.

PLLAN conducts a final design review to ensure that the design follows playful learning principles and provides a final report to this effect.

PLLAN advises the Project Team on the installation process and ways to involve the community in the build and community celebration.

PLLAN advises the Project Team on a maintenance and sustainability plan.

PLLAN consults on the development of an impact evaluation, if one is desired, and is available to interpret the data.
